• The storage usage reported by nextcloud does not report on how much quota used by photos, how much by documents etc
• There is no way for users to understand how their storage quota is used

Describe the solution you'd like

• Storage usage should report quota usage aggregated by type in files app and user settings
• Perhaps a new OCS API endpoint also to provide this granularity

Start by reading how storage usage and quota are currently reported in the files app and user settings. Check whether an existing OCS API exposes related usage data before deciding whether a new endpoint is needed. Done means users can see quota usage aggregated by file type in the relevant interfaces, with any API behavior documented and covered by appropriate tests.
