[Bug]: set status - emoji reset without user interaction

Bug description

When setting a user status message, selecting an emoji for the status message resets after a seemingly set time/mouse action.

From initial tests, seems if the mouse goes idle for a few seconds, then hovers over a UI object, the emoji is reset.

This behaviour is newly experienced in the last week (currently 23-10-17), likely an upgrade regression?

Steps to reproduce

1. open status message dialogue
2. choose emoji - any emoji
3. wait...
4. move the mouse cursor, try to type, etc
5. emoji selection is reset

Expected behavior

Emoji selection should permeate the user interaction with the set status dialogue until the user chooses otherwise.
