Description

The ownership transfer of a file or directory in Nextcloud ( https://docs.nextcloud.com/server/latest/user_manual/en/files/transfer_ownership.html ) is working locally, on the same instance.

To easily migrate to another server, or simply work in a big structure with multiple instances, it would be great to have this feature compatible with federation, and let people transfer ownership to "otherguy@otherinstance.tld"

Thanks!

Research direction

No files or tests are named. Start with the linked user manual page on ownership transfer and establish how the existing local workflow relates to federation; done means transferring a file or directory to an account such as "otherguy@otherinstance.tld" on another Nextcloud instance.
