Description

I Like the Synology shared NAS Storage and was looking for something similar on Nextcloud.
To not only have a Storage system with reduncancy but to have an off site backup of the most important Data.
I searched way to long and found nothing so here are my ideas:

  • If you are adding a shared folder from another nextcloud instance, there should be an option to copy the files to your local storage.
  • Share a certain tag and with the tag, the folders/files are added to the remote nextcloud share and backuped offsite

A plugin could do the trick as well, but i found nothing working with the nextcloud hub2 (25.0.2)

Research direction

No files, tests, or entry points are named. Start by locating the existing federated shared-folder implementation and related tag or file-sync handling, then determine how local copying and tag-based off-site backup would fit. Done would require an agreed scope and tests covering both requested behaviors.
