Description

On a big instance, with mixed audience, one maybe does not want to have a status shown to external/guest people, but only internal.
Currently one has to be carefully when setting a status.

So I can imagine

  • do not show status to guests at all
  • have it as option every time when setting status (similar to "silent messages" in talk)
  • have it as user/global option

I somehow do not like to have even more options, so maybe global/admin setting is enough?

Research direction

The issue names no files, tests, or entry points. First clarify whether guest hiding, a per-status choice, or a global/admin setting is desired, then locate the status visibility flow and define acceptance checks showing that guests cannot see statuses while internal users can.
