Describe the solution you'd like
Green IT is a recurring buzz word, one that companies usually wants to ear when looking for a solution. I think this could be something Nextcloud might want to look into, by adding more features helping companies to raise awareness on the subject to their users (less files means less power, etc).
Some random ideas:
- help users identify their cold (or dead) data (files that were not used in X years) leting them know how much space they could sage (and CO2...)
- help users archive their old emails, compress them, etc.
- allow companies to set a conversion ratio gigabytes -> CO2 and display an index to the users
- help administrators identify users with ever growing storage
- help administrators identify cold accounts

Research direction
The issue names no files, tests, or entry points. Start by reviewing the proposed user and administrator capabilities and determining which parts belong in the server project. A concrete scope, implementation location, and acceptance criteria are still needed before completion can be verified.
