Description
Unfortunately I learned today that the company behind mariaDB had been bought by an investment company. This could long term have bad effect on licencing and quality of the project. While it may be early, we should probably think about what to do, in case this turns bad.
Should we switch to postgres? Is this even possible?

Research direction
The issue names no files, tests, or entry points. Start by reviewing the project's current MariaDB support and whether PostgreSQL is supported, then determine whether a migration is technically and operationally in scope. Done would require a documented decision and an agreed implementation plan.
