Mail app is not loading all of the inbox emails

Steps to reproduce
- add smtp details
2.open the mail box
Expected behavior
All emails should load and be sorted with newest first.
Actual behavior
After adding the inbox, when I open the mailbox, first all of the emails loaded with the oldest coming first.
The number icon in the 'inbox' button on the right-hand side shows the correct amount of emails in the inbox. However it does not load them all. I have checked the search feature and there are no search terms restricting the emails there.
