Description
Summary
On the "Add account" screen, all three buttons sound correct to a self-hoster, and the right one ("Log in") is not obvious. Two of the three lead away from the app into nextcloud.com.
Steps to reproduce
- Open the app, "Add account"
- Three buttons appear (German labels in parentheses):
- "Log in" ("Anmelden")
- "Sign up with provider" ("Mit eigenem Provider anmelden")
- "Run your own server" ("Eigenen Server betreiben")
- A user with their own server reads (2) and (3) as "that's me", taps them, lands on nextcloud.com pages, has to back out and try again before finding (1).
Suggestion
Reword (1) to something like "Log in to your own server" so it is unambiguous, and either drop (3) or move it to a small footer link.
Environment
- iOS app 33.0.7
- iOS 18.3.2
Related
#1680 introduced these three buttons in 2021 for cross-platform consistency. Wording has not been revisited since.

Research direction
The entry point named is the “Add account” screen; compare its three options with the wording and navigation described here, and review related issue #1680 first. Confirm the final copy and placement with maintainers, then verify that self-hosters can identify “Log in” without being sent to nextcloud.com.
