Description

Situation

I am currently in Taiwan and, in contrast to Germany, they have affordable unlimited mobile traffic.

Why is it useful?

In order to avoid time-consuming activities like the one described here: #2722 Uploading all the time, especially during vacations, would be great.

Auto-upload somehow supports WifFi, regular/shared uploads don’t.

Relation to 2722

I would like to upload all the missing auto-upload items (the one I canceled) via iOS sharing to the Nextcloud app. But the time where we have reliable WiFi is sometimes very limited while traveling. Mobile on the other hand is fast and reliable here.

EDIT: I found a work-around for the camera roll. I created a new auto-upload folder and upload everything again.

Research direction

Start by reviewing the related issue #2722 and the reported difference between auto-upload and regular/shared uploads in the iOS app. Determine how mobile-data permission currently differs between those upload paths. Done means missing items can be uploaded through iOS sharing over mobile data, while the existing Wi-Fi behavior remains supported.
