No
Describe the solution you'd like
Unlike the files in the user folder, we can't generate the files' metadata in the group folder. This functionality will be helpful in the Nextcloud restore scenario.
Describe alternatives you've considered
Move the files to the user folder, run the sudo -u www-data php ./occ groupfolders:scan --all --generate-metadata to restore the metadata and move them back to the group folder.

Research direction
Start by locating the implementation of the groupfolders:scan command and trace how its --generate-metadata option handles user-folder files. Determine how the same behavior should apply to group folders, then verify that running the command generates metadata for group-folder files so they can be restored without moving them.
