Research direction
Reproduce the failure in Windows Explorer with a directory beginning with a dot, using the reported Windows 11, Server 28.0.4, and Desktop Client 3.12.3 context. Start from the sync error for PEAR/.registry and trace the desktop client's hidden-directory handling; done means the hidden directory syncs without the reported 404 and retry error.
