In my humble opinion, the fact that "Toggle compact mode" and "Show archived cards" are in the upper left corner is irrelevant because these settings apply to all boards and not to only the currently displayed board.
Describe the solution you'd like
I suggest moving them to the left panel underneath "Use bigger card view" and "Show boards in calendar/tasks". IMO, all the parameters that impact all boards should be gathered in one place.
