Description
Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
I use multiple groups to sort my contacts. As time goes by, some contacts become irrelevant, but I don't necessarily want to delete them, so I put them in an Archive group, in addition to the others.
Unfortunately, the contact app can show contacts only in a selected group, but not hide contacts from a group.
Describe the solution you'd like
It would be useful, in addition to selecting a group, to be able to select one (or more) groups to hide contact from.
It would be even better to be able to nominate one (or more) group so they are no longer synced to other devices (e.g., phones).
Describe alternatives you've considered
- Deleting contacts, but I don't necessarily want to do that.
- Having a separate Archive address book (which literally just came to mind filling this form), but I don't if moving contacts across address books is feasible at the moment.

Research direction
The issue names no files, tests, or entry points. Start by locating the contact-group filtering and device-sync flows, then define how hidden groups should affect display and synchronization and document tests for both behaviors.
