Calendar notifications even while not activated

Steps to reproduce

1. I have no notification for calendar events activated, but I do receive those mails.

No source file, test, or entry point is identified in the issue. First reproduce the unwanted calendar emails with Calendar 3.0.6 while notifications are disabled, then trace the notification behavior and add coverage showing that no calendar notification is sent in that state.
