Description

As a user, I'd expect the CollectionView to render an array of strings even if I don't define a template.
However, the default template was commented out at a certain point: https://github.com/nativescript-community/ui-collectionview/blob/master/src/collectionview/index-common.ts#L359

Research direction

Start by inspecting src/collectionview/index-common.ts around line 359, where the default template was commented out. Verify the CollectionView behavior with an array of strings and restore the expected default rendering without requiring a user-defined template.
