MuseScore Studio version (64-bit): 4.6.5-253511702, revision: [653f38d]
Regression
I was unable to check
Operating system
Windows 10 Version 22H2 or later, Arch.: x86_64
Additional context
I'll keep it short:
-
changed the main font from "Edwin" to "Calisto MT" because it looked better to me
-
added an Omacron and omacron to the font with fontforge [font works on rest of the system]
-
MuseScore Studio 4 refused to notice the change and kept using the old version of the font [I have no idea, where it pulled it from tough]
in an attempt to solve this I reinstalled the font
since then the font does not show up in the dropdown menu in MuseScore4
Here is, what I have tried so far with NO effect whatsoever:
- add --platform windows:fontengine=directwrite to the end of the target path
- installing the original, unedited font of "Calisto MT"
- making sure to install the fonts for all users [each at a time]
- delete the font cache
- re-install MuseScore Studio 4 4.6.5
- try using MuseScore 4 Portable 4.6.5
- try the most recent nightly build of MuseScore Studio 4 [February 17 - Version 4.7]
- clear registry errors with CCleaner 6.39 Portable [cuz the new one sucks]
... of course I restarted my PC between all the steps to make sure I am starting on a fresh session.
And here am I now with plenty of scores, that I arranged using Calisto MT, not having converted most of those to PDF and with 3 Score Sheet Styles, that I have preset as import styles and default styles for all scores to come.
This issue of disappearing and unavailable fonts has been around for ages as it appears. User comfort would highly increase if this issue was finally adressed.
I do beg you sincerely to fix this. Individually styling score sheets makes creating them and playing them so much more fun.
I tried attaching a screenshot showing the missing font in the software and displaying it on the other half of my screen so you can see it is installed.
My system parameters are:
OS: Windows 10 Version 22H2 or later, Arch.: x86_64, MuseScore Studio version (64-bit): 4.6.5-253511702, revision: [653f38d]
If you need anything else to fix this, please let me know if I can help.
Thank you a lot in advance!
Thomas

Research direction
Start by reproducing the Windows 10 case using the style-options font dropdown: delete a font, restart MuseScore, reinstall it, and check whether it returns. Compare this with the reported DirectWrite launch option, font-cache steps, and portable build; done means the reinstalled and edited font is available in MuseScore Studio again. The report names no source file or test.
