Ability to Create Custom Shortcuts for any Palette Item

Your idea

At the moment only a small number of specific items in the menus and palettes can be assigned a shortcut. This request is for a way to select (maybe right click) on any palette item and define a shortcut for it.

Problem to be solved

For blind users who can only access palette items with keyboard navigation it can take literally hundreds of arrow presses to insert several items from the palettes. This would allow users to create custom shortcuts for any palette items they use regularly, which ones would obviously depend on the instruments and ensembles they most regularly write music for and would vary greatly between users. So a system that allows them to choose the item and assign a shortcut rather than adding hundreds to the preference shortcut area would seem good. If this is not possible to be considered then an extended list of items to create custom shortcuts for would be helpful, particularly commonly used things like pedal marks, jumps, repeats, etc.

Start by tracing how palette items and existing shortcuts are handled in the desktop application. Done would mean users can select any palette item, assign a custom shortcut, and use it through keyboard navigation.
