Description

Your idea

Several features would really make midi a lot more useful. One of the uses I make of musescore is writing string or horn arrangements which I import into my DAW for rendering. The following enhancements would really make life a lot easier.

  1. Midi file export folder location saved with project
  2. ability to export a selection as a midi file
  3. ability to drag and drop a selection as a midi file(s)
Problem to be solved

It would enhance the usability of midi import/export between musescore and other software requiring midi file / data. Currently, there are a lot of manual steps involved including navigating folders, clicks, prompts to overwrite, searching for specfic parts in the destination of the import, etc.

Prior art

Some notation software supports the functionality I'm asking about

Research direction

Start by locating MuseScore’s MIDI import/export workflows and project save handling. Review how selections are represented and how drag-and-drop is implemented, then clarify the scope of the three requested enhancements. Done would mean the requested MIDI folder persistence, selection export, and selection drag-and-drop workflows are implemented and verified.
