Cannot enter Japanese (and possibly Chinese) on ChromeOS

Description with steps to reproduce

1. Install MuseScore on ChromeOS in Crostini
2. switch input language to Japanese using English keyboard
3. Attempt to type in the title and see error (English words get entered instead of Japanese and the IME window does not appear)

Expected behavior: IME window should appear and Japanese should be typed instead of English
The attached video shows it working in the system search bar

Chinese input method with ibus framework works on Pop_os with GNOME desktop on Musescore Studio 4.5.1

Reproduce the issue in MuseScore Studio 4.5.1 on ChromeOS in Crostini using a Japanese IME, following the listed steps and comparing with the system search bar. Trace the desktop text-input path involved in the title field; done means Japanese input works and the IME window appears, without English words being entered instead.
