Description

Your idea

Please have the above/below buttons automatically control the orientation of hooks on lines, so that the hooks always point toward the staff.

Problem to be solved

I feel the existing system is counterintuitive, because if a user wants a line-made bracket to point up when it is below the staff, then they must enter negative values for the hooks.

Prior art

It's not quite the same thing, but the above/below buttons already direct the orientation of slurs and ties.

Additional context

Issue #26148 has a prior discussion of this.

Research direction

Start by reading the prior discussion in issue #26148 and examining how the above/below controls orient slurs and ties. Identify the existing hook-orientation implementation and determine how those controls should affect line-made brackets; the work is done when hooks consistently point toward the staff without requiring negative values.
