Description

Your idea

Be able to preview the sound of an instrument in the instrument selection window, maybe with a discreet button when we hover the name of the instrument ; it could play a single note, or play a little demo of this instrument (it's probably really hard to do so) .

Problem to be solved

There is a lot of instruments that are included in musescore 4, including a lot of exotic or unknown ones. Instead of having to do the whole process of adding the instrument, test it etc... having just a button to get familiar with the instrument could save this time for creation instead of this whole trial and error thing.

Prior art

I never use another score notation app than musescore, so i can't tell certainly.

Research direction

Start at the instrument selection window entry point and trace how instruments are represented and how playback is handled. Clarify whether completion means playing a single note or a demo, then verify that the selected instrument can be previewed without completing the full instrument-addition workflow.
