Trombone Is Inaudible at Mezzo Forte

I'm working on a big composition, and the Muse Sounds playback works well for the most part, but the trombone is completely inaudible at mezzo forte or below.

In general, the trombone is much quieter than any of the other instruments. Every other instrument in the piece is louder at piano than trombone is at forte. At mezzo forte, I can't hear the trombone, even with the trombone's fader turned up to maximum.

The problem seems to only happen for Muse Sounds; soundfonts don't seem to suffer from this.

Steps to reproduce

• set up a score with a trombone
• set the dynamic to Mezzo Forte
• you won't be able to hear it.

You can check the file, though; just play it, and it'll go quiet in the third bar.

My unfinished piece obviously isn't something I can share just yet. Hopefully it will be enough to include this file where I've copied the bit where the trombone goes quiet and modified it so nothing of my original score remains except an example.

This file has the marking as Mezzo Piano, but Mezzo Forte is equally inaudible; especially when there are other instruments.

Start by opening Trombone Goes Quiet.zip in MuseScore 4.0.2 on Windows 10, then compare Muse Sounds with soundfonts while checking playback around the third bar at mezzo piano and mezzo forte. Done means the trombone remains audible at those dynamics and is not masked by other instruments.
