Description
Describe the bug
When the audio output is set to system default, if you plug in headphones while the program is running, the audio doesn't go to the headphones, and playback lags significantly, producing no sound (although the mixer lights up).
To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:
- Open Musescore (no headphones)
- Playback works fine
- Plug in headphones
- Playback doesn't work very well, and there is no audio output through the headphones.
Expected behavior
The audio output should switch
Platform information
- OS: Mac
Additional context
This used to work fine, but hasn't for a little while now.

Research direction
No files, tests, or entry points are named. First reproduce on macOS with MuseScore's audio output set to system default, then trace the audio-output handling used when headphones are connected during playback. Done means playback switches to the headphones without lag or silence.
