Issue description

I was looking for list orientation to be based on viewport width

e.g.

<List
    component="div"
    size='sm'
    variant="outlined"
    orientation={{ xs: 'vertical', md: 'horizontal' }}
    sx={{
        borderRadius: 'sm',
        boxShadow: 'sm',
        justifyContent: 'flex-start'
    }}>
...
</List>

and it appears that orientation value expects only either ["horizontal","vertical"]

Research direction

Start with the Joy UI List API described in this issue and compare it with the related Radio Button page. Trace how List currently handles its orientation value and identify the relevant component tests or documentation entry points. Done means orientation accepts viewport-based values such as xs and md and produces the requested layout at those breakpoints.
