Description

Feature Request Summary

Feature Request: Tabbed Windows

Hello! It would be great if Loop supported universal window tabbing, similar to the tabbed tiling feature in System76’s Pop!_OS—a top tab bar that groups multiple macOS windows, including windows from different applications, into a single tabbed container.

Problem / Opportunity & Desired Solution

Problem / Opportunity:
Managing many overlapping windows creates desktop clutter and makes switching between related applications inefficient.

Desired Solution / Implementation:
Add an optional tabbed mode with a tab bar at the top of the window group. Users should be able to drag any application window into the group, switch between windows using tabs, reorder them, and remove them from the group.

Research direction

The issue names no files, tests, or entry points. Begin by locating Loop’s existing macOS window-management architecture and determine how window grouping, dragging, tab switching, reordering, and removal would fit together; done means an optional tabbed mode supports those behaviors across applications.
