✨ Aqua Ripple Animation for Window Snapping

Feature Request Summary

For some time, I’ve had a purely cosmetic idea in mind, nothing functional, but something characteristic and delightful. Before describing it, I’d like to provide a bit of historical context. Back in macOS X Tiger, Apple introduced the Dashboard app, which allowed users to add multiple widgets. When a widget was added, it would land with a beautiful ripple effect across the Dashboard surface.Dashboard remained part of macOS for many years, until it was finally discontinued in macOS Mojave, making the ripple effect a nostalgic memory for longtime users.

Since macOS 26 Tahoe draws inspiration from Aqua with the integration of Liquid Glass, I thought it would be fun to revive that spirit by adding a ripple animation when using window snapping. As a user drags a window into position, a subtle Aqua-style ripple could appear under the cursor, similar to the demonstration video I created using Motion (based on this tutorial).

I’m not sure whether this could be implemented in Swift using Motion effects, nor how it might impact performance or resource usage. Still, I wanted to share the idea because it’s been on my mind for a while, and I believe if anyone could bring it to life, it would be you guys :).

Just in case this idea ends up in Loop's roadmap, I would also suggest making this feature optional, something users can toggle on or off, since not everyone may want these effects enabled.

macOS 26 introduces Liquid Glass, a design language inspired by Aqua, creating an ideal opportunity to reintroduce subtle, joyful details that enhance its distinctive character.

Alternatives Considered

There's no alternative to something like this, it would make Loop even more unique.
