Description
Most DAWs provide the ability to send sync to another app either via midi (MTC - midi timecode/MMC - midi machine control) or over a network (OSC - Open sound control).
It would be great to support external sync for playback and during editing (project is not playing back but still need to locate correct still frame based on playhead position in the DAW).

Research direction
The issue names no files, tests, or entry points. Start by surveying mpv’s current playback and editing controls and its support for external input, then establish how MTC, MMC, or OSC should be handled. Done means external sync controls playback and locates the correct still frame during editing.
