Description
Expected behavior of the wanted feature
The option is currently Windows only (manual link). A similar feature has already been requested in 2021 (#8882) but quickly discarded back then. It got added as Windows only in 2023 (#11469), which makes me think that Linux support would now be accepted. Please close this issue if I am wrong and the things pointed out in #8882 are still valid.

Research direction
Read the linked manual section and compare the discussion in issues #8882 and #11469 to understand the existing objections and the Windows-only behavior. Then locate the current implementation in the mpv source and determine whether a Linux equivalent has a defined window-system path and acceptance criteria; done means agreed Linux behavior and working support.
