Description
Please add more capacity and options to --external-file. At the moment its use is very limited to very few Internet URLs, the vast majority of URLs don't work. Internally link --external-file to yt-dlp.exe/gallery-dl.exe to get all the benefits these two offer. And also enable --external-file='s ability to use m3u playlists (playlist from URLs of Internet),
example external-file=my_playlist.m3u.
The idea here is to use mpv with two videos from Internet at the same time.

Research direction
Start with mpv's --external-file option and its handling of Internet URLs. Compare the requested yt-dlp.exe/gallery-dl.exe integrations and m3u playlist support, then define acceptance cases for loading broad URL types and playing two Internet videos concurrently.
