Description
It would be nice if at times of silence (ie. neither client- nor server activity - no keypresses, no screen updates) the rate of sending packets would be gradually reduced.
For non-connectivity this is already done after one minute; something similar could be used in times of no activity. That would help to reduce energy usage when using the smartphone on the train without cutting the connection.
(A configurable period would be nice - up to once every minute would be ok for me; how about having more options in the Ctrl-^ menu??)
Thanks a lot!

Research direction
Start by tracing the existing non-connectivity behavior that reduces activity after one minute, then inspect how the Ctrl-^ menu is implemented. Done means idle client/server connections remain connected while packet frequency gradually decreases, with the requested configurable interval or menu options defined.
