Description
Until recently, mosh has been very quick to connect to my server. However, over the last few days I've found that sometimes it takes several seconds to connect, and I'm not sure what's going on. Is there any way to get more detailed debugging information to see what is causing the startup delay?

Research direction
Start by reproducing the intermittent connection-startup delay and inspect the existing mosh connection setup and diagnostic output paths. Determine what additional information would identify the startup bottleneck; done means a concrete, actionable debugging method is documented or implemented and verified against a delayed connection.
