Description
I'd like to be able to copy/paste the block groups from copy 1 of a ship to copy 2 of a ship.
For reference, I have a ship that I built from a blueprint (in survival) with a large number of block groups, and automation built upon it. I got hit by the merge block bug, and it wiped all of my block groups for that ship.
I can easily paste the completed ship into a creative world, and the block groups are there (as they existed in the blueprint), but trying to copy them over from the blueprint manually is incredibly time consuming (and painful, with a good number of blocks named the same thing in different block groups).
I would love the ability to copy/paste block groups from one ship to another. Obviously, if you copy/paste from completely different ships, you'll get some weird results, but it works great if you're copying from a template ship to a copy of it.

Research direction
The issue does not name files, tests, or an entry point. Start by locating the existing ship copy/paste workflow and how block groups are represented, then define behavior for copying groups between matching and different ships; done should include a verified copy/paste path without losing group assignments.
