• I have not been informed if the issue is resolved in a preview version of the winget client.

Installation issue.

Brief description of your issue

Error message when trying to upgrade from 7.3.9.0 to 7.4.0.0:
A newer version was found, but the install technology is different from the current version installed. Please uninstall the package and install the newer version.

I need to know if it's actually safe to uninstall PowerShell!

Start with the reported Windows Package Manager upgrade error and the logfile line showing an installed EXE package conflicting with a WiX installer. Reproduce the upgrade from PowerShell 7.3.9.0 to 7.4.0.0 if possible; done means identifying whether the package metadata or installer transition causes the failure and documenting a verified upgrade path.
