Description

WinGet CLI

Description of the new feature / enhancement

Some installers contained within archives may need to reference other files in the archive within their switches. Safely allow switches to reference files within the archive.

Proposed technical implementation details

Add a new switch token that is only active when the installer is an archive (ex. <INSTALLER_ARCHIVE_ROOT>). This will be replaced with the location that the archive has been expanded to.

Research direction

Start in the WinGet CLI paths that process archive installers and installer switches. Trace how an archive's expanded location is represented and how switch tokens are substituted. Done means archive manifests can safely reference files under the expanded archive while non-archive installers do not activate the token; add or update coverage for both cases if matching tests are found.
