Description
Description of the new feature / enhancement
Sanitization of program names to allow better, easier searching.
Example, trying to search for the Intel Driver & Support Assistant. No results...
The problem: It's named "Intel® Driver & Support Assistant" with the unnecessary ®.
Even allowing an alternative name or moniker such as "intel-assistant" will allow for easier searching.
Proposed technical implementation details
Strip symbols and special characters from names. Allow only letters, numbers, dashes, and spaces.
Also, allow alternate names/monikers. See above.

Research direction
The issue names no files, tests, or entry points. Start by tracing how program names are stored, indexed, and matched during search; determine how symbol stripping and alternate names should interact, then add coverage showing that names such as “Intel® Driver & Support Assistant” and the proposed moniker are searchable.
