Description

Does this issue occur when all extensions are disabled?: Yes

- VS Code Version: 1.136.1
- OS Version: Windows_NT x64 10.0.26100

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Open two files in VS Code
2. Try to quickly distinguish the active tab

The tab coloring in the modernized UI seems very inconvenient to me. I expect the active tab to visually extend from the editor area. Compare the classic vs. the modern style:

In the classic style, it is easily recognizable which tab is the active one. In the modern style, the inactive tab (due to its background color being same as the editor area's) gives the impression of being active, see the added annotation below:
