Markdown editor cannot (easily) edit an empty file

Type: Bug

1. Create an empty text file `hello.md`.
2. Open the file in the Markdown Editor.

Now it's impossible to enter any text - there is no cursor, and clicking in the window does nothing.

OK, now I've realized that if I click in just the right place in the upper-left corner of the editor area, I get a cursor and I can type. Still, this is a confusing user experience. I think the cursor should appear without my clicking there.
