Description

I'm connecting to a remote server via Remote-SSH. Previously, the Claude Code and Codex icons showed up in the Activity Bar (the left sidebar) and were clickable, but recently they stopped working — the icons are either missing or unclickable.

This started happening recently; it worked fine before, without any intentional configuration change on my end.

I've already tried:

Launching with code --disable-extensions — the issue still occurs, so it doesn't seem to be caused by a conflicting extension.
Checking the Activity Bar's right-click menu — the icons aren't listed as hidden there.
Reloading the window (Developer: Reload Window) and reconnecting the SSH session — no change.

Steps to reproduce:

Connect to a remote server via Remote-SSH.
Open a folder/workspace on the remote.
Expected: Claude Code and Codex icons appear in the Activity Bar and are clickable.
Actual: icons are missing / unclickable, even with all extensions disabled.
