Description
Type: Bug
VS Code used to be a great code editor with which one could read and edit code. Now it's slowly turning into an infomercial channel for extensions. I can't open a file without Code pushing various extensions to "help" with the file (with no information suggesting what the extension actually does, making it seem like it just improves syntax highlighting, autocomplete, and similar), and those extensions in turn pushing functionalities I never asked for, and opening various panels and popups all over the place that I never needed nor ever will.
Yes, that's largely the fault of the extensions, but VS code SHOULD NOT waste screen space advertising such extensions simply because I happen to open an .xml file, or switch a file to SQL language.
