Description

VSCode and OS Version:
Version: 1.131.0 (user setup)
Commit: e4c7e7b1d6d060162f4aa7f8225271b67ce1df75
Date: 2026-07-28T10:51:25Z
Electron: 42.7.0
ElectronBuildId: 14710161
Chromium: 148.0.7778.280
Node.js: 24.18.0
V8: 14.8.178.38-electron.0
OS: Windows_NT x64 10.0.26200

- Feature (e.g. agent/edit/ask mode): Agent
- Selected model (e.g. GPT 4.1, Claude 3.7 Sonnet): Auto
- Logs: See Screenshot, I do not know how to get logs for the Auto model selection, unfortunately.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. send a request with model "Auto"
2. Check if routed result and executed model match

See Screenshot: Routed model and executed model do not match, which causes me extra cost.

This is not acceptable in this case, since I am not willing to pay more then necessary. You encourage users to use Auto mode here: https://docs.github.com/en/copilot/tutorials/optimize-ai-usage#use-copilot-auto-model-selection-as-your-default
