Source control scanning never ends

Type: Bug

Source Control endlessly looks for changes.
It won't even pick up files that actually changed.
To get it working again I have to 'restart extension host'.
That will allow me to make one commit.
Then, it will scan forever again.

This is happening for a very small project, only a few files.
I have not set a remote repository for git (push / pull would fail).
