Research direction
Reproduce the issue through a normal SSH remote session and inspect the temporary files matching vscode--multi-line-command- in the remote temporary directory. Trace where these generated scripts are created and whether their lifecycle is handled after use; done means no longer-needed files are cleaned up and the existing remote workflow still works.
