Description

Type: Bug

I routinely work on a linux server, connecting remotely from my Mac. Recently, rmote git integration stopped working. I tried it both on an Intel Mac running Sequoia and an Arm Mac running Tahoe, and in both cases I could not see which branch I was working on or uncommitted changes. I tried it from a Linux server, and initially it worked, but suggested I update VS code. After the update, it stopped working there, too. (Local git integration without remote ssh seems to work fine.)

I subsequently fixed my issue on my Arm Mac by going back to 1.117.0. It seems like this issue that started in 1.118.

Research direction

Start by reproducing the missing branch and uncommitted-change indicators over Remote SSH with VS Code 1.118.1 and extension 0.122.0, then compare the behavior with version 1.117.0. Done means remote Git integration again shows the current branch and uncommitted changes on the reported systems.
