Description
The default theme is not functional, it's making the code less readable.
The new default theme makes code harder to read.
Variable names and strings look too similar, so it’s difficult to quickly distinguish them.
The previous dark theme had much better contrast and readability.
Would be great if this could be improved or if there’s an option to revert.
Apologies if I’m missing something or if this is configurable on my end.

Research direction
The issue names no files, tests, or entry points. Start by reproducing the default theme in a VS Code Remote Development session and compare variable and string readability with the previous dark theme. Done would require an agreed contrast improvement or a documented way to revert, but the issue does not define which change is preferred.
