Description

  1. Open VS Code with the Python Environments extension installed and enabled
  2. Open any Python file or workspace
  3. Observe UI lag/sluggishness (delayed typing, slow panel switching, unresponsive UI)

Expected: VS Code responds normally with no noticeable delay
Actual: VS Code becomes slow/laggy — likely caused by the Python Environments extension
scanning environments or running background processes

Additional info:

  • macOS (username: hilde)
  • Python 3.x installed via Homebrew/system
  • Lag appears consistently / after a specific action [edit to match your experience]
