Having such a feature for C++ would be great.

Research direction

The issue does not name any files, tests, or entry points. Start by locating the C++ debugger's launch-argument handling and compare it with the Java extension's SpecifyProgramArgs behavior. Done means launch parameters can request an argument prompt during debugging.
