Description

Would it be possible to show the last function return value somewhere in the debugger window - preferrably variables?

I know it's possible to get at using gdb commands, but it's fairly convoluted. Not sure how difficult it is on Windows though?

Research direction

Start by reviewing the debugger window and variables view, then investigate how the extension currently exposes values through gdb commands. Check the Windows implications noted in the issue. Done means displaying the last function return value in the debugger variables area with behavior that works across the relevant platforms.
