Research direction

The issue names only cmake-gui and an externally located build folder; no file, test, or entry point is provided. First inspect how CMake Tools discovers and configures existing build directories, then clarify the expected reopen workflow. Done should be demonstrated with a reproducible project whose build folder is outside the default location.
