Research direction

Reproduce the issue in VS Code by changing the Azure Resources extension version and using the Restart Extensions button, then compare the Azure View before and after updating an Azure-related extension. No source file or test is named in the issue, so first locate the Azure View extension activation and update handling. Done means resources remain visible after the extension version change.
